Historic Photograph: Farm Forestry Project, McCurtain County
Forestry plays an important part in Oklahoma's conservation history. This historic photograph, dated June 9, 1944 and taken at the Farm Forestry Project bear Broken Bow in McCurtain County, shows "[p]art of [a] 16 acre permanent woodland marked for selective cutting to improve stand. Trees marked with 'X' will be removed. 12,000 bd. ft., practically all of which is pine, will be harvest. The entire 16 acres has been completely projected from fire for 6 years."
